PANTHERGUARDIANS PTO
MISSION STATEMENT
The Panther Guardians Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) serves as a partnership of parents, school leaders, teachers and community members who collaborate and advocate for the best education and opportunities for our children, in and around John Hayden Johnson DC Public School.
This year our PTO will focus on:
- Supporting students with school supplies, programs, events, and beautification activities.
- Raising our voice by showing up to support our scholars.
Benefits of Parent and Community Involvement:
- Children whose parents are involved in their education get better grades, have higher test scores, increase their social skills, confidence and have better behavior.
- Strong partnerships have a greater impact that build strong families and communities.
DR. JOHN HAYDEN JOHNSON
A native Washingtonian, Dr. John Hayden Johnson received his medical training from Howard University. Dr. Johnson practiced medicine from November 1, 1900 - March 1954. During this time he organized the first physician’s reading club and served 21 years on the District of Columbia’s Board of Education. To this day, the physician’s reading club continues to discuss new treatments, diagnosis, and drugs.
